The Vancouver Coastal Health Authority is going to distribute crack pipes to addicts. To the tune of $50,000. Fraser Institute alum and City Caucus contributor KVMarshall tweets:
But according to a BC Centre for Disease Control study it costs between $1,850 and $6,000 per year of taxpayers dollars to treat people who contract Hepatitis C – an affliction which the pipe distribution program could help prevent. In fact the program pays for itself if it prevents Hepatitis C cases in numbers well under 3 figures.
Harm reduction was one of former Mayor Sam Sullivan’s causes:
I wonder if Daniel Fontaine – editor of City Caucus and Sullivan’s former Chief of Staff – will have the courage to write a rebuttal to his new City Caucus contributor.
