Why I’m not libertarian. Reason #2,398

I don’t speak for all libertarians, but I think there’s a good case to be made that taxing people to protect the Earth from an asteroid, while within Congress’s powers, is an illegitimate function of government from a moral perspective.

    Oh, just the idea that one of libertarianism’s more prominent advocates thinks human extinction is less immoral than paying a tax to prevent human extinction.

      I think that presents a false dichotomy. Isn’t it a legitimate argument to have whether private market forces would be more likely to prevent the asteroid from striking Earth?
