Picking on cyclists

I would like to recommend this blog post by local transit expert Stephen Rees. While not it’s main point, it does contain an insight that I had not considered (even though in retrospect it seems obvious): The recent pushback and online bashing against the “cycling movement” is not because it has become powerful – 3 cycling lanes are a drop in the bucket.

It’s happening because it’s perceived as weak and vunerable and bullies and demogogues pick on those they think can’t bite back.
