Contrarian of the day

The tweet:

(Which then leads to a long twitter fight with CKNW’s Brett Mineer)

This is nuts. The President of the United States has specific powers and responsibilities that were required to be exercised on September 11th, 2001. Bush hesitated for 30 minutes.

The Mayor of Vancouver – and I don’t carry if their name is Gregor Robertson, Sam Sullivan or Godzilla Salmi – sits on the Vancouver Police Board. He’s not the chief of the police like a President is the Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces. According to Bob’s own story, the VPD were asked if they needed anything from the Mayor, and they said no.

Robertson’s assistant Kevin Quinlan said chief of staff Mike Magee was briefed by Police Chief Jim Chu at 7:20 p.m. about the Ray-Cam Co-operative Centre incident.

“The Chief was asked if the Mayor was needed and he said no,” Quinlan said.

So…what the hell was the Mayor supposed to do that he, you know, didn’t? Storm the Ray-Cam centre personally? Pull a Guliani and hold countless news conferences in a fireman’s suit? Or stay out of the way. Oh right, he did that.

For this reason, and his earlier tweet endorsing climate change charlatan skeptic Bjorn Lomberg…

Bob is my contrarian of the day.
