Local opponents often try to portray the construction of bike lanes as unique to Vancouver. It’s not. Most cities around the world – with governments of left and right – are getting in to the bike lane business. In terms of preparing for a world without oil, it’s low-hanging fruit. The NY Times has an interesting story today on the Big Apple’s bike lane initiatives which are, get this, even more ambitious than those of Vancouver. What’s also not unique to Vancouver?
